Our Safer Recruitment Training helps schools create and sustain safer learning environments by embedding safeguarding principles into every stage of the hiring process, from job design and shortlisting to interviews, vetting, and final appointments. This course ensures that everyone involved in recruitment understands how to identify risks, recognise warning signs, and make child-centred hiring decisions that keep children safe.

Duration: 3 Hours
Participants should already have a general understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Those new to the safeguarding can begin with our Introduction to Safeguarding and Child Protection course.
Course Objectives: By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Plan and prepare for recruitment in a way that prioritises safeguarding.
- Design job adverts and role descriptions that reflect child protection responsibilities.
- Conduct shortlisting and interviews that test suitability to work with children.
- Carry out vetting, reference, and background checks confidently.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns or red flags.
- Manage and assess any allegations or conduct concerns that arise after appointment.
This Safer Recruitment course is aligned with current child protection legislation and safeguarding guidance and is suitable for schools operating within both Nigerian and international education frameworks.

- Headteachers, principals, and proprietors
- Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and Assistant Safeguarding Leads (ASLs)
