2023 Theme: “Make A Noise About Bullying”
Anti-Bullying Week is an annual event, typically held in November, dedicated to raising awareness and taking action against bullying. It is a great way to build a culture of kindness, empathy, and inclusivity in schools. During this week, various activities, discussions, and initiatives are organised globally to educate and people, schools and organisations to stand up against all forms of bullying, including physical, verbal, and cyberbullying. This FREE template from Safeglia Consult is not for sale, and is intended to provide ideas to schools on how to mark the Anti Bullying week 2023 for Key stages 1 and 2 (Primary school) pupils.
Day 1: Monday – Raise Awareness Day
Morning Assembly (All Pupils)
- Introduction to Anti-Bullying Week 2023: “Make A Noise About Bullying.”
- Share the importance of recognising and addressing bullying.
- Play a short video or read a story about standing up against bullying.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 1)
- Download our colorful “Bullying Stops Here” classroom posters.
- Encourage students to share their thoughts on what bullying means to them through drawings.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 2)
- Discuss the different forms of bullying (e.g., verbal, physical, online) and their impact.
- Conduct a group discussion on how to be an “upstander” and not a bystander.
Day 2: Tuesday – Be an Upstander Day
Morning Assembly (All Pupils)
- Discuss the theme of being an “Upstander” and making a noise about bullying.
- Share stories or examples of individuals who have stood up against bullying.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 1)
- Role-play scenarios where students can practice being upstanders.
- Order our “Upstander Badges” and Certificates or create yours for those who stand up against bullying in the class.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 2)
- Discuss the role of peer support in addressing bullying.
- Download our “Upstander Code” for the class.
Day 3: Wednesday – Kindness Day
Morning Assembly (All Pupils)
- Promote kindness and empathy as powerful tools against bullying.
- Share stories or quotes about the impact of kindness.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 1)
- Download our “Acts of Kindness” cards or create yours for students to exchange with peers.
- Discuss the importance of including everyone in games and activities.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 2)
- Explore the concept of random acts of kindness and their impact.
- Encourage students to perform acts of kindness in their community.
Day 4: Thursday – Cyberbullying Awareness Day
Morning Assembly (All Pupils)
- Address the issue of cyberbullying and online safety.
- Share tips on staying safe online and reporting cyberbullying incidents.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 1)
- Download our “Cyberbullying Safety Posters” or encourage children to create theirs.
- Discuss the importance of not sharing personal information online.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 2)
- Engage students in a discussion about safe online behavior and responsible internet use.
- Share resources for reporting cyberbullying and seeking support.
Day 5: Friday – Make Some Noise Against Bullying Day
Morning Assembly (All Pupils)
- Celebrate the accomplishments of the week and the commitment to stand up against bullying.
- Encourage students to make noise against bullying on the assembly, and in their own ways.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 1)
- Have a “Noise Parade” where students bring in musical instruments or noisemakers.
- Download our Anti-Bullying Class Pledge, and encourage the class take the pledge against bullying.
Classroom Activities (Key Stage 2)
- Encourage students to create anti-bullying campaigns, slogans, or presentations.
- Plan a school-wide “Make Some Noise” event to conclude the week.
